144 Tours of objects loaned to a national institution

In the case of a UK-based tour which is under the responsibility of the borrowing national institution, the risk covered by the National Heritage Act 1980 Section 16 undertaking will extend to other UK venues1. Where a tour involves non-national borrowing institutions, each venue should apply separately for the period of travel for which they are responsible2. Indemnity is generally given by the Secretary of State for the inward and outward travel in respect of the borrowing institution which is organising the tour3.
