111 State indemnity schemes

The UK national indemnity scheme expressly excludes from its protection losses arising from title disputes, as do some overseas indemnity schemes. Commercial insurance appears a more reliable source of protection and several insurers offer it. Contracts for such insurance might be taken out by either lenders or borrowers: a borrower presumably has the necessary insurable interest despite not asserting any ownership of the chattel1.
