101.1 Certainty as to the period of possession

In principle, certainty as to the period of possession is crucial to every museum bailment. The reasons are both practical and legal. Every responsible museum should know the exact location of each object out-loaned from its collection at any given time, and the exact time at which objects distributed from its collection to outside possessors will return to its possession.
