London has long been the world centre for shipping arbitration, and the London Maritime Arbitrators’ Association (LMAA) is an association of arbitrators practising in this field. While the LMAA does not administer arbitrations, it does act as an appointing authority in maritime arbitrations, publishes recommended dispute resolution clauses and has established a number of procedures for the conduct of maritime arbitrations.
