The law of arbitration in England and Wales and Northern Ireland underwent a significant overhaul and consolidation pursuant to the Arbitration Act 1996, which represented the culmination of a comprehensive review commenced in response to the promulgation in 1985 of the UNCITRAL’s Model Law on International Commercial Arbitration.
