102.1 Format of mediation

The parties should have decided the basic format of the mediation in advance, but it is advisable to leave some discretion for the mediator to decide what techniques to adopt as the mediation progresses. The aim is to find ways of encouraging the parties to communicate with each other, either directly or indirectly, to narrow the issues between them and to resolve differences.
