18 Dangerous wild animals

The Dangerous Wild Animals Act 1976 prohibits the keeping of certain kinds of dangerous wild animals without a licence from the local authority, otherwise than in certain exempted places1. The application for a licence must contain specified information2 and there are statutory guidelines relevant to the grant of a licence3 and conditions which every licence must contain4. The local authority may authorise the inspection of the relevant premises by a veterinary surgeon or practitioner5.
