(c) Compulsory hiring

37 Power to make a compulsory hiring order

A district council or, in Wales, a county or county borough council, may hire land for allotments compulsorily for the purpose of leasing it to a parish or community council1. The council may submit an order for such compulsory hiring for a period of not less than 14 and not more than 35 years2, in a prescribed form or a form to the like effect3, to the Secretary of State or the Welsh Minister.
