10 Allotments: powers and duties of district and county councils

A district council, or, in Wales, a county or county borough council, may hire land compulsorily for the purpose of leasing it to a parish or community council for the provision of allotments1.

Further, a county council in England, or a county or county borough council in Wales, may under certain conditions let land held for smallholdings2, or may let or sell to a district, parish or London borough council, or, in Wales, any community council, land acquired by the council for cottage holdings provided that
