1 Meaning of ‘allotment’

In this title the term ‘allotment’ refers mainly to lands held by local authorities under the Allotments Acts 1908–19501 for the purposes of providing persons resident in their areas with small plots of land for cultivation2.

The Allotments Acts 1908–1950 do not provide a comprehensive statutory definition of ‘allotment’.
