96.10 Closure in relation to ‘access land’

Where the land over which a third party enjoys a sporting rights of any nature is ‘access land’ within the meaning of Part I of the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000, then the parties will want to consider the position regarding closure1. Under Section 22 of the Act the owner (or tenant) of the land can restrict or exclude the public from the land for up to 28 days each year for any reason.
