70.1 Farm business tenancies

Before the Agricultural Tenancies Act 1995 came into force on 1 September 1995, a principal requirement of a farming partnership was to ensure that, unless expressly agreed by the parties, a tenancy protected by the Agricultural Holdings Act 1986 would not be granted to the non-landowning partner. The Agricultural Tenancies Act 1995 provides that, with very limited exceptions, rights of occupation granted on or after 1 September 1995 for the purposes of an agricultural business do not confer any long term security of tenure.
