7 Description of property

The description of the property is of crucial importance and should be by reference to a plan of a size and scale sufficient to show the detail of the boundaries, unless the property can be described by reference to the relevant filed plan for a registered title.

Conventionally, agricultural land has been described by reference to acreage schedules with plans attached ‘for identification purposes only’. This practice is not to be recommended unreservedly as it gives rise to various practical difficulties in reconciling field numbers with previous editions of Ordnance Survey
