557 Rights of entry for the protection of hedgerows

Any person authorised in writing by the local planning authority may enter any land if there are reasonable grounds to do so for the following purposes1:

  1. 557.1

        surveying it in connection with any hedgerow removal notice received by the authority;

  2. 557.2

        ascertaining whether an offence under the Hedgerows Regulations 1997, regulation 7 has been committed;

  3. 557.3

        determining whether a notice should be given under the Hedgerows Regulations 1997, regulation 8 (replacement of hedgerows).

In addition, any person authorised by the Secretary of State may enter the land for the purpose of surveying
