55 Reductions, penalties and appeals

Reductions and penalties are applied for a variety of different breaches of the rules of the Basic Payment Scheme, Greening Payment and Young Farmer Payment.

Reductions will apply if a farmer has not declared all his agricultural parcels, has claimed on land which is not eligible, or is not at his disposal, or has breached the greening rules1.

If a farmer breached the greening rules in 2015, the maximum reduction was 30% of his total direct payments (Basic Payment Scheme and greening payment together). For future years however the penalty increases if the farmer fails to comply
