509 Fly tipping

Fly tipping is a criminal offence contrary to Section 33 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990. Local authorities have parallel powers of enforcement to the Environment Agency. The penalties for fly tipping are one year's imprisonment or a fine of £50,000, or both, on summary conviction and five years’ imprisonment or an unlimited fine, or both, on conviction on indictment1.
