505 Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011

The substance of the Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011 originally came into force in 2006, and has been subsequently revised1. Uncontrolled burning of waste (excluding wood and plant matter) and the burial of waste in farm tips is now banned. It is now necessary for exemptions to be registered or environmental permits to be obtained. The options for farmers include2:

  1. 505.1

        securely storing waste, pending disposal, on a site where it is produced for up to 12 months;

  2. 505.2

        taking the waste themselves for recovery or disposal
