The crop diversification requirement only applies to a farmer who has at least 10 hectares of arable land and who does not fall within any of the exemptions2. That farmer will be required to comply with either the two crop rule or the three crop rule depending on the area of the farmer’s arable land. Under the two crop rule (for arable areas between 10–30 hectares) the farmer must grow at least two different crops and the area taken up by the main crop must not cover more than 75% of the arable land.
