268 Effect on other obligations

The existence of an agreement under the higher level stewardship scheme (HLS) does not exonerate the farmer or land manager from the obligation to obtain any necessary consents which would normally be required in relation to the commitments under the agreement. Thus, for example, if any part of the land is a site of special scientific interest the consent of English Nature will be required in respect of any operation listed as potentially damaging under the designation. In similar fashion the consent of English Heritage will be required for operations affecting ancient monuments.
