254 Penalties, offences and appeals

As under the Countryside Stewardship Scheme1a breach of the Glastir scheme rules which is detected could result in the termination of the scheme agreement by Natural Resources Wales and the imposition of penalties unless the farmer can show that force majeure or other exceptional circumstances apply2. Potential measures include the withholding of future payments due under the agreement, the reclaiming of payments already made and the imposition of penalties. The extent of the penalty measures depends on the type of breach.
