245 Land owned by public bodiesThe Countryside Stewardship Scheme cannot be used to provide funds for any environmental management that is already required by statutory duty1. This means that Crown bodies (including all government departments and their executive agencies) and non-departmental public bodies (such as Natural England and the Environment Agency) are not eligible to enter the scheme2. Tenants of ineligible landowners are eligible to enter the scheme, unless the works are already required under the terms of the tenancy agreement. The tenant must have security of tenure for the whole term of the scheme
