239 Eligible and ineligible land

The Countryside Stewardship Scheme imposes rules regarding which land parcels can be included in an application and which are ineligible1. To be eligible for payments under the scheme the land must be within:

  1. 239.1

        an agricultural area defined as any area taken up by arable land, permanent grassland or permanent crops; or

  2. 239.2    

        a forest, defined as an area of land being a minimum of 0.5ha and minimum width of 20m under stands of trees with, or with the potential to achieve a height of 5 metres and crown cover of more than 20% of
