219.3 The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds

The RSPB has increased its land holding and currently manages over 150 reserves in the UK, extending to over 240,000 hectares. These reserves are predominantly of value for bird protection; over 90% of British breeding birds have nested on RSPB reserves. The RSPB welcomes visitors to its reserves, subject to conservation needs, which always take priority. The reserves are also important in terms of animal and plant habitat.
