176.2 Licences – further provisions

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs or the Secretary of State for Wales (as appropriate) may grant a licence authorising a person to kill or take badgers or to interfere with setts within a specified area and by specified means for the following purposes1:

  1. 176.2.1

        preventing the spread of disease;

  2. 176.2.2

        preventing serious damage to land, crops, poultry or any other form of property;

  3. 176.2.3

        any agricultural or forestry operation; or

  4. 176.2.4

        any operation (whether by virtue of the Land Drainage Act 1976 or otherwise) to maintain
