167 Power to grant licences

The provisions of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 on protection of wild birds, their nests and eggs1, prohibition of certain methods of killing or taking wild birds2, showing live birds for the purposes of competition3, registration and protection of certain captive birds4, and orders designating areas of special protection5 do not apply to anything done for the purpose of:

  1. 167.1

        science, research or education;

  2. 167.2

        ringing or marking, or examining any ring or mark on, wild birds;

  3. 167.3

        conserving wild birds;

  4. 167.4

        the repopulation of an area with, or the reintroduction into an area
