154 Management agreements

Whilst many local nature reserves are owned or leased by the local authority, there is no formal requirement for that provided the local authority has a sufficient interest for it to be certain of the proper management of the reserve. That interest can take the form of a management agreement between the local authority and the owner of the land or, where the land is let, between the local authority, the owner and tenant. Agreements may be made between local authorities and non-governmental nature conservation organisations which wish to see their reserves officially recognised as local nature
