144 Notice of designation

Once a site is designated, the Secretary of State is under a duty to place details of it on a register and to inform Natural England and the Natural Resources Body for Wales1. The appropriate nature conservation body is then under a duty to notify every owner or occupier of land within the site2, the local planning authority for the site and such other persons as the Secretary of State may direct. The entry of an European site in the register will also involve its registration as a local land charge3
