418 Variation of the terms of a statutory tenancy

The terms of the statutory periodic tenancy will be the same as those under the former contractual assured tenancy1. However, the Housing Act 1988 provides a mechanism by which landlords and tenants may vary those terms2. At any time up to one year after the statutory periodic tenancy has come into being, either party may serve a notice proposing new terms. The notice must be in the prescribed form3.
