As with the use of music in advertisements1, the inclusion of a film clip may require clearance from a number of different rights owners. These may, amongst others, include the owner of rights in the film itself2, the owner(s) of rights in any musical compositions or sound recordings featured on the soundtrack3, and any individual(s) featured in the clip4. If use of the clip amounts to a reproduction of a substantial part of the script for the original film, then clearance may also be required from the owner of rights
