72 Right of cancellation

Subject to certain exceptions, the consumer must be given a period of at least seven working days1 within which he may withdraw from the contract without incurring a penalty2. A consumer who exercises this right is not required to give reasons for withdrawing.

The Regulations contain provisions which dictate when the cancellation period starts to run3. These provisions were amended as regards distance contracts for the provision of services by the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) (Amendment) Regulations 20054 in response to difficulties distance sellers of services had been experiencing in providing the required pre-contract disclosures in certain
