33 Existing law: prize competitions

Even though a prize promotion may escape the prohibition on lotteries, it could still be unlawful under the Lotteries and Amusements Act 1976. Under Section 14 of that Act it is unlawful to conduct through any newspaper, or in connection with any trade or business or the sale of any article to the public:

  1. 33.1

        any competition in which prizes are offered for forecasts of the results either:

    1. 33.1.1

          of a future event; or

    2. 33.1.2

          of a past event the result of which is not yet ascertained, or not generally known1; or

  2. 33.2

        any other
