Additional rules on financial advertising apply following the implementation in the United Kingdom of Council Directive (EC) 2002/65 concerning the distance marketing of consumer financial services. This extended to financial services, with some changes, the disclosure and cancellation rights regime introduced by Council Directive (EC) 97/7 for distance sales to consumers of non-financial products and services, implemented in the United Kingdom by the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 20001.
