17 The Direct Marketing Association Code of Practice

The Direct Marketing Code of Practice drawn up by the Direct Marketing Association covers a wide range of marketing activities, including email and SMS marketing, field marketing and door-to-door, as well as more traditional media such as direct mail, press and telemarketing. For the purposes of the Code, a ‘commercial communication’ includes all forms of direct marketing communication, including any sales promotion, fund-raising and all advertising whether it contains an offer or an invitation to treat.
