15.2 Broadcast Advertising Clearance Centre

The Broadcast Advertising Clearance Centre (‘BACC’)1 is funded by United Kingdom commercial terrestrial and satellite broadcasters. Its role is to assist broadcasters in fulfilling their legal responsibilities for the advertising they transmit2. The BACC offers an advisory service for advertisers and their agencies which examines scripts at pre-production stage to ensure that they comply with the BCAP Television Advertising Standards Code3. All television commercials must be cleared by a BACC representative before transmission approval can be given4.
