Welcome to the Lexis®PSL Restructuring & Insolvency team’s round-up of updates on recent case law, legislation, news and opinions for April 2015.

We take a look at key cases and news from April 2015, so you can be assured you are up to date on the main events in restructuring & insolvency.

April’s highlights include the changes to be brought in by new legislation that will impact on insolvency professionals—the Small Business, Enterprise and Employment Act 2015, the Deregulation Act 2015 and the Insolvency (Protection of Essential Supplies) Order 2015. We also take a look at a number of restructuring and insolvency-related cases, including the Supreme Court's decision in Jetivia v Bilta in relation to whether directors can rely upon the so-called illegality defence to claims brought against them.
