Upcoming Aspire event: networking skills and brand protection

AspireJoin us on Wednesday 29th June 2016 for the next LexisNexis Aspire event with more fantastic sessions to help junior in-house lawyers develop and build their commercial and legal skills.

 

The Aspire network 

Aspire is a free networking and professional development group for in-house lawyers in the early stages of their legal career. We are passionate about supporting each other to succeed and aim to provide a forum to share experiences and ideas and sharpen our legal and commercial skills.

Our next event

The event will take place on Wednesday 29th June at 3:30pm (registration at 3pm) at LexisNexis, Lexis House, 30 Farringdon Street, London, EC4A 4HH.

Join us for three exciting sessions, all of which count towards your CPD requirements:

  • Focus on soft skills: a practical session on developing networking skills and promoting yourself effectively, run by consultant Emma Wilson.
  • Focus on legal skills: the importance of brand protection and practical tips for protecting IP, led by Claire Sng, DLA Piper.
  • Guest speaker Stephen McCartney, Director of Information Governance and DPO at Royal Mail, shares his insights into working in-house and how to move your career forward.

The event will be followed by a drinks and networking session so that you can meet with other Aspire members and the speakers.

Sophie is Head of Learning & Development at F-LEX Legal - an award winning legal tech startup helping law firms and organisations manage a flexible work force and supporting lawyers to make smarter life/work choices. 

As part of her portfolio career Sophie runs various learning and development and networking forums for in-house lawyers and mentors junior lawyers.  These include Flying Solo for small and solo legal teams and Aspire for junior in-house lawyers which she runs for LexisNexis UK.  She also works with schools and organisations to promote social mobility within the legal profession, working with The Social Mobility Business Partnership and Aspiring Solicitors. 

She trained as a lawyer in the City and worked as an in-house lawyer for 10 years including as Head of Legal for Virgin Radio and Ginger Media Group.  

Outside of work she is happily married with three sons and enjoys morning walks along the beach with her two dogs.
