Business for the Rule of Law (B4ROL) Launch

International significance of Business for Rule of Law

This morning, our Chief Executive Officer Mike Walsh, along with colleagues from LexisNexis Legal & Professional and RELX Group took part in the official launch of Business for the Rule of Law (B4ROL), hosted by the United Nations Global Compact. Together with customers Baker & McKenzie and Linklaters, they introduced the B4ROL Framework as well as the Guide for General Counsel on Corporate Sustainability.

The B4ROL Framework is a call to action and guide for businesses around the world in taking proactive, voluntary actions to support the rule of law in everyday operations and relationships. In September 2013, LexisNexis and the Atlantic Council presented the initial draft of the Global Rule of Law Business Principles to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, which served as the foundation for this effort. The launch tomorrow marks a pivotal moment in an almost two year journey and is cause for celebration among all of Legal & Professional, especially in this year that we commemorate 800 years of the Magna Carta. With outstanding commitment and support from our teams, we led more than half of the global consultation workshops that defined the final Framework—spanning Europe, Africa, Asia Pacific and North America.

B4ROL is but one of many ways we advance the rule of law on a daily basis, you can learn more at our new LexisNexis Legal & Professional rule of law website.  You can share the B4ROL Framework on Twitter or on other media platforms using #B4ROL, #LN4ROL, @LexisNexis.
