TCC Guidance

We have received informal guidance as to how cases in the Technology and Construction Court (‘the TCC’) in the Northern Circuit are being dealt with, including information as to who will hear cases, judgment times, listing and time estimates.

This information includes the following:

Who will hear which cases?

Case Value Heard By
Below £50,000 County Court
Between £50,000 and £250,000 Any of the judges who are authorised to sit in the TCC as High Court judges under s 9 of the Senior Courts Act 1981.
Between £250,000 and £2,000,000 His Honour Judge Raeside QC
Over £2,000,000 His Honour Judge Raeside QC

Judgment times

For cases around or under £250,000 the court will want to give judgment within six months of the first CMC.

Listing and time estimates

The trial for a matter will be listed at the first CMC.

The time estimate for trial must include specified time for judicial pre-reading and for writing the judgment.
