Chancery Masters: without notice applications

As of 1 April 2015, Chancery Masters will no longer deal with applications without notice (AWN) at 2:15pm. Instead, without notice applications will be dealt with at the relevant master’s preferred time.

Depending on the master hearing your AWN, this will be 10.30–10.45 or 2.00–2.15. Practitioners are reminded that AWNs should be made to the assigned master unless there is a good reason to the contrary, for example, in a case of ‘genuine’ urgency.

Practical implications

As of 1 April 2015, practitioners making an application without notice (AWN) should check their assigned master's preferred time for dealing with such applications.

These times are currently:

  • Chief Master Marsh: 10.30 – 10.45
  • Master Bowles: 2.00 – 2.15
  • Master Price: 2.00 – 2.15
  • Master Teverson: 2.00 – 2.15
  • Master Clark: 10.30 – 10.45
  • Vacant Master: 10.30 – 10.45
