Pre-trial reviews to start in Chancery Division

The Chancery Division is to hold pre-trial reviews in all cases listed for trial on or after 1 March 2015 where the trial time estimate is five days or more.

These are to be held before a judge about four weeks before the trial is due to take place. They are to be fixed at the same time as the trial date is fixed. The key purposes of the experiment include the pre-trial review judge being able to check the trial time estimate is realistic and that the parties have taken appropriate steps to agree a timetable for the trial.

This experiment is due to start today (29 April 2014).
