WTO—statement on impact of coronavirus (COVID-19) on Services Trade Barometer

The World Trade Organization (WTO) has published a statement on the latest reading from the WTO Services Trade Barometer in light of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The latest index reading of 104.7 is reported as the strongest on record. The reading points to a services trade rebound in the short-term, however, the long-term outlook is less clear. The WTO also reports that the continued weakness in some sectors and the uneven distribution of the coronavirus vaccines, creates doubt on the durability of the recovery.
