The Welsh Government has published a written statement confirming that the 'relevant period' in Sch 29 of Coronavirus Act 2020, in respect of notices served to Welsh tenancies, has now been extended to 31 December 2021, pursuant to the Coronavirus Act 2020 (Residential Tenancies: Extension of Period of Protection from Eviction) (No. 3) (Wales) Regulation 2021. The government has said the purpose of this alteration is to delay evictions and prevent homelessness during a time when case numbers and hospitalisations are increasing and the virus remains a serious threat to public health. The alteration to the relevant period will come into force on 30 September 2021.
