Wales updates on travel and launches digital coronavirus (COVID-19) pass

The Welsh Government has published changes to international travel restrictions, moving several countries to the ‘green list’, continuing with the same traffic-light approach as the rest of the UK,  and added Israel to the ‘green watch list’. A decision will also be made on whether to ease restrictions further for travellers who have received two coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccinations returning from amber list countries. All changes to the lists will come into effect from 4 am on 30 June 2021. Further, from 25 June 2021, people in Wales are able to access their vaccination status online via a digital ‘NHS COVID Pass’—this will enable travellers to access their vaccination status faster where urgent international travel is required. The NHS COVID Pass will be available across mobile phones, tablets and laptops, and is advised to become the default proof of vaccination status when travelling internationally.

Announcing the changes to international travel, the Welsh Minister for Health and Social Services, Eluned Morgan, outlined that Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Balearic Islands, Barbados, Bermuda, British Antarctic Territory, British Indian Ocean Territory, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Madeira, Malta, Montserrat, Pitcairn, Henderson, Ducie and Oeno Islands, Turks and Caicos Islands are all moving to the green list.

Meanwhile the Dominican Republic, Eritrea, Haiti, Mongolia, Tunisia and Uganda are all joining the red list.
