UK Finance warns of holiday and festival scams post coronavirus (COVID-19)

UK Finance has issued a warning to anyone planning on going on a holiday or to a festival as scams are on the rise. As the country comes out of the coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown, criminals are advertising cheap festival tickets and holidays, or tickets to sold out events, that are actually fake. This is happening via a range of channels, including emails, fake websites, social media posts and phone calls. UK Finance has launched the Take Five to Stop Fraud campaign in an effort to help people spot when something is a scam.

The Take Five to Stop Fraud campaign comprises three essential steps:

• stop

• challenge

• protect

UK Finance is urging people to take a moment before parting with any money or information and has also reminded people to not click any links in unsolicited emails or social media posts.
