UK banks ‘ready and willing’ to help businesses and households bridge through the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic

The Bank of England (BoE) has issued a joint statement with major UK banks on measures to help businesses and households bridge through the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The statement says the UK’s banks are in a strong position to provide further support to the economy and are ‘ready and willing to do so’.

The BoE notes that the sector is facing ‘an unprecedented situation’, but says ‘it will pass and the economy will rebound’. It urges consumers facing financial difficulties to get in touch with their banks, and thanks frontline staff tackling the pandemic.
