Students receive GCSE grades despite coronavirus (COVID-19)

The Department of Education has announced that over 600,000 students will receive their GCSE results on 20 August 2020, with 76% of entries being awarded grades nine to four. Students did not sit their exams due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and so have been awarded the centre assessment grade submitted by their school, unless their calculated grade was higher. Statistics reveal at 99.6% of entries received a grade nine to one, overall GCSE entries in England rose by 1.9%, entries to English Language rose by 3.8% and entries to maths increased by 2%.
