Statement released by Health and Social Care’s secretary on coronavirus (COVID-19)

The Secretary of State of the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has released a statement with the latest updates on the coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine deployment and the latest data on infection rates. In respect of vaccine deployment, there will be 73 hospitals across the UK actively administering the vaccine with thousands of people having the vaccine. There was also an announcement on the continuity to protect the NHS, especially during the winter months—with concern surrounding the number of cases in London, Kent and Essex. Further information was also communicated on Test and Trace 2.0 and hospital upgrades. In addition, the DHSC has announced that targeting testing will be offered to secondary school children in East London, Kent and Essex.
