The Serious Fraud Office (SFO) has confirmed that it continues to investigate suspected fraud, bribery and corruption during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The SFO is adapting its working practice to adhere to government guidance, however, the office remains open for staff performing essential functions which cannot be handled remotely. The SFO is working with its partners in HM Courts and Tribunal Service to ensure court proceedings commence as soon as practicably possible and is working to produce information for legal representatives. Additionally, the SFO has warned that fraudsters will attempt to take advantage of the coronavirus pandemic by scamming people out of their money and has provided details for reporting suspected fraudulent activity.
