Second report published on coronavirus (COVID-19) disparities

The Government Equalities Office, Equality Hub and Race Disparity Unit has published a second report on coronavirus (COVID-19) disparities. According to the report, some disparities among ethnic groups have improved from the first wave, but in particular they have not improved among Pakistanis and Bangladeshis. Alongside this, the government is working with over fifty ethnic minority titles, covering ten different languages, and using television channels and radio station in order to reach approximately nine million people. £23.75m in funding has also been provided towards local authorities under the Community Champion Scheme, which endeavours to enhance existing communication strategies across high risk places. The scheme provides funding for voluntary and community groups who may specialise in working with high risk communities.
