President McFarlane welcomes report on family remote hearings amid coronavirus (COVID-19)

Research has been published by the Nuffield Family Justice Observatory (NFJO) on the effectiveness of remote hearings in the family justice system since the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis began, which has been welcomed by the President of the Family Division, Sir Andrew McFarlane. The Nuffield Family Justice Observatory were asked to carry out the study to examine views after some hearings during the coronavirus were held online, rather than in person.

The NFJO's report can be found here.

In addition, the President has published his View from the President's chambers—May 2020 discussing the:

• response of the family courts to coronavirus

• creation of a new group headed by Baker LJ to advise on the way forward with recovery for the Family Court

• temporary cessation of the work on implementing the recommendations of the Public Law Working Group Report

• appointment of Roberts HHJ as lead Family judge to deal with issues relating to the divorce process
